About

The “Mamografias” (Mamographies) series is known for combining elements of letters and shapes that refer to human figures, exploring the relationship between writing and figuration. It involved a series of works centered on the representation of women's breasts, exploring themes of the body and identity. An interesting aspect of this exhibition is the use of the mold of the breasts of the Venus de Milo statue, which served as the basis for the creation of the flexible polyurethane breast blocks. The molding process involved specific techniques and varied materials, such as yarn and wood, which were worked on in collaboration with different professionals and factories.

The Venus de Milo, an iconic statue from antiquity, was chosen by Vieira for its idealized representation of feminine beauty, establishing a dialogue between the classical and the contemporary. This use of the Venus not only added a layer of historical complexity to the exhibition, but also underlined the artist's intentions to challenge and recontextualize classical figures within a modern and personal context.
