About
Luis Camacho's work was largely characterized by dimension and verticality. The choice of vertical dimensions was emphasized in the creation of colorful columns. For some time, he dedicated himself to graphite works, but at the end of the 1980s, Luis Camacho returned to softly colored painting, engaging in a subtle play of transparencies where the lines used divide the surface of the support into various parts or combine shapes and spaces. The use of light colors allows for the perception of the smallest variations of the warm colors used without losing sensuality.
The titles he gave to his works oscillate between generic visuality and the appeal to free association of images, such as "Paisagem para Um Fruto" (1983), "Sítio" (1986), "Amo-te" (1986), "Carne" (1988), “Sortilégio” (1989).
Sortilégio (or "spell" in English) is a term that typically refers to an enchantment or a magical spell. It can imply a sense of charm, allure, or bewitchment. The word often carries connotations of mystery and the supernatural, evoking imagery of magical rites or mystical influences.

He is also the author of public artworks, including the large tile panel on Rua da Mãe de Água, in Príncipe Real, created as part of the Sétima Colina project of Lisbon 94 – European Capital of Culture.
